What's New

Latest features, improvements, and updates to the IndiaTaxSim GST simulation platform. We ship regularly — here's what changed.

Every e-Way Bill menu now worksNew

The 17 e-Way Bill menus that said "Coming Soon" are now real screens: bulk vehicle and transporter update, multi-vehicle, consolidated bulk, reject within 72 hours, all reports, My Masters, sub-users, update, grievance and 2-factor login.

Profile: DSC, STAK and API access workNew

Register your DSC, activate STAK with the simulated GST Secure OTP app (and FILE WITH STAK on CMP-08), and enable API access for billing software like Tally. History of Amendment now lists your real changes.

Each GSTIN sees only its own notices and applicationsFixed

Notices, registration and refund tracking, and e-Way Bill lookups now show only the GSTIN you are working on, like the real portal. Switch to see another GSTIN's records.

More fixes: signatories, late fee, turnover, refunds, downloadsImproved

Every authorised signatory appears when filing; the late-fee cap follows the turnover slab; turnover counts all of Table 3.1; new Downloads, News and Updates, ICEGATE status and "refund not received" pages; GSTR-1 imports HSN from e-invoices; ITC-04 can be half-yearly; a new light course page.

GSTR-2B: see the invoices you rejected, and ISD creditsFixed

In GSTR-2B → ALL TABLES, the "B2B (ITC Rejected)" table now lists each invoice you rejected in IMS, and "ISD Credits" lists the documents from your Input Service Distributor. Before, both said "No records found".

Walkthrough Modules 1–3: clearer steps and explanationsImproved

The steps now follow the portal menus exactly (for example Services → Registration → New Registration), with short explanations of each field — trade name, jurisdiction, HSN, ARN, EVC, IFSC and more — in all 6 languages.

New guide: delivery challan in GST (Rule 55)New

When goods move without a sale — job work, liquid gas, exhibitions, goods on approval — you send them on a delivery challan, not a tax invoice. What it must show, the three copies, when an e-way bill is needed and how to report challans in GSTR-1 Table 13.

GSTR-9 Table 14 now shows your DRC-03 paymentsImproved

Extra tax you paid for the year through DRC-03 is not part of any GSTR-3B, so Table 9 never shows it. GSTR-9 Table 14 is now filled from your DRC-03 payments of that year, with the list of payments, so the annual return matches what you paid. Module 21 of the GST Portal Walkthrough explains it.

New guide: last date to claim ITC for FY 2025-26New

Section 16(4) closes ITC on 2025-26 invoices on 30 November 2026 (earlier if GSTR-9 is filed first). The guide shows which GSTR-3B is the last chance for monthly and QRMP filers, what else closes that day, and a checklist.

New: compare GST practice options side by sideNew

Fixed: which course videos are freeFixed

Modules 1, 2 and 10 are free for everyone. The other videos open with the Standard plan or an institute seat; credits on their own do not unlock them. The course guidance and home page now say this correctly.

5 new GST guides on the blogNew

GSTR-1A (fix GSTR-1 before GSTR-3B), cancelling GST registration with REG-16 and GSTR-10, Rule 86B (1% of tax in cash), replying to an ASMT-10 scrutiny notice, and the practical GST skills firms expect from commerce students. The GSTR-1 guide now has the ₹1 lakh B2C (Large) limit.

New: a 13-minute course tour video on the home pageNew

Press play on the home page to see the whole journey — sign up, confirm your email, register your first GSTIN free with the signup credit, buy credits to open the GST portal login, and the GST Practice Lab, where Smart Auto-Fill fills GSTR-1, GSTR-1A and GSTR-3B, the challan is paid from the bank account and the ledgers show where every rupee went.

Android app 1.9.2: chapter videos and big video thumbnailsNew

The app now shows the GST Practice Lab chapter videos inside each chapter, and every course video as a large thumbnail — the same as the website. Chapter 1 and Modules 1, 2 and 10 are free; the Standard plan or an institute seat unlocks the rest.

Fixes: SEZ invoices in GSTR-1, CMP-08 drafts, GST Practitioner numberFixed

In GSTR-1, an SEZ invoice keeps IGST when you tick the differential-rate box, and ticking Deemed Exports after an SEZ box now recalculates CGST and SGST. A saved CMP-08 draft shows as "Draft" in the composition calendar and can be deleted. A new GST Practitioner sees and receives the same TRP enrolment number that taxpayers search for. Module 29 guidance is now fully translated, and Standard-plan students can watch every chapter video on the public GST Practice Lab page.

14 October 2026See all updates →
A video for every GST Practice Lab chapterNew

Each of the 13 Practice Lab chapters now opens with a video that tells the chapter as a story and shows every Smart Auto-Fill card being filed on the simulator. Chapter 1’s video is free; the Standard plan unlocks the rest. Course videos now show as large thumbnails you can click to play, and the home page shows a free lesson from each course.

14 October 2026See the chapters →
Clearer sign-up, and the free course videosImproved

After you create an account you now see only one message — check your inbox and open the confirmation link — instead of the form again. Course videos for Modules 1, 2 and 10 are free for everyone; the Standard plan (or an institute seat) unlocks every other video, on the website and in the app.

14 October 2026See the course →
Course videos for Modules 21–30 + amending an earlier invoice in GSTR-1New

The rest of the GST Portal Walkthrough now has videos: GSTR-9/9C, composition (CMP-08, GSTR-4), QRMP and IFF, TDS (GSTR-7), TCS (GSTR-8), OIDAR and non-resident returns, ISD (GSTR-6), SEZ and exports, DRC-01B and GST Practitioners, and Multi-State Registration. Module 29 now starts with a hands-on correction of a Month B invoice in the 9A amendment table of a later GSTR-1.

14 October 2026Open Module 29 →
SEZ supplies in GSTR-1, and other fixesImproved

In the GSTR-1 B2B tile you can now tick SEZ supplies with or without payment — the supply becomes inter-State, and IGST is zero without payment. The Switch GST Account window now scrolls when you have many GSTINs. A GST Practitioner always gets a TRP enrolment number. The composition calendar shows a saved CMP-08 draft as Not Filed, and the GSTR-5 import note now explains that IGST paid on imports is credit for a non-resident.

14 October 2026
New course videos for Modules 1–20New

Every GST Portal Walkthrough module from registration to the Month B GSTR-3B now has a fresh video recorded on the current simulator, with English subtitles (use YouTube auto-translate for your language). Modules 1, 2 and 10 (the first GSTR-1 video) are free to watch.

13 October 2026Open the course →
Closer to the real portal: e-Way Bill Part B, IRN cancellation, invoicesImproved

Update Part B now asks for the reason (First Time, Break Down, Transhipment, Others), the place and State of the change. IRN cancellation needs a remark, as on the IRP. A B2B invoice or a registered-buyer note can no longer be saved without the buyer’s GSTIN. Bulk e-Way Bills follow the GSTIN’s practice date, and the Invoice Manager button is now NEW INVOICE.

13 October 2026
Full authorised signatory form in non-core amendmentImproved

Adding an authorised signatory through Amendment of Registration (Non-Core Fields) now asks for the same details as the real portal: father's name, date of birth, gender, residential address and the proof of appointment (Letter of Authorisation or Board resolution).

13 October 2026Try it →
Home logs you out of the portal, like the real siteImproved

Clicking Home in the simulator menu while logged in now logs you out of the GST portal and shows the public home page, just as on the real GST portal. Log in again with your username to return to your dashboard.

13 October 2026
AI-generated practice casesNew

Three Practice Scenarios — inter-State sale with a credit note, export under LUT, and reverse charge — now have a library of AI-generated cases: a different business, goods, buyer and amounts every time you click "New AI-generated case". Every amount is computed and checked, and the steps follow the real portal screens. The steps of these scenarios were also corrected (reverse charge credit goes to Table 4A(3), GSTR-1 tiles named as on the portal, refund under LUT now available).

13 October 2026Try a case →
GST Story is now the GST Practice LabImproved

The story course has a new name: the GST Practice Lab — the same 13 chapters about one family business, each scene with its own practice scenario you complete on the simulated portal. The card button is now ⚡ Smart Auto-Fill: one click opens the real form filled with the story’s data. Your progress is unchanged.

"Explain this screen" now lists every table and tileImproved

The help panel names every tile of GSTR-1 (all 24, including amendments, advances, ECO and Section 9(5) tables) and GSTR-1A, every table of GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, GSTR-9C, GSTR-2A/2B, GSTR-4, GSTR-5, GSTR-5A, GSTR-6, GSTR-7, GSTR-8, CMP-08, IFF and ITC-04, all ten tabs of registration Part B, and the sections of invoices, ledgers, payments, LUT, refunds and notices — in all six languages.

13 October 2026
GSTR-5, GSTR-5A, GSTR-7 and GSTR-8 tables named as in the formsFixed

Table numbers and names now follow the statutory forms: GSTR-8 Tables 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 and 8; GSTR-7 Table 7 for the cash-ledger refund; GSTR-5 Table 10 (total tax liability) and Tables 11–12; GSTR-5A Table 5 (supplies to consumers in India), 5A and 6–7. GSTR-2B's auto-population note now shows Integrated Tax as well.

13 October 2026
Course page: true module order, larger textFixed

Modules of a topic that comes back later in the course (User Services, GSTR-2A/2B) were pulled up together, so numbers on the course page did not match the module text. The page now follows the course order exactly, and the module steps are larger and easier to read.

13 October 2026Open the course →
Closer to the real portal: return rules, signatures, TDS/TCS creditImproved

A return can be filed only after its tax period ends (set a Practice date to practise earlier), and only by the registration type that files it. A composition dealer gets no GSTR-2B or IMS and can receive ISD credit only as ineligible ITC. TDS and TCS registrations get GSTINs with D and C in the 14th place; TDS, TCS, NRTP and OIDAR applications are signed with SUBMIT WITH DSC, E-SIGNATURE or EVC; a non-resident can apply with a Passport or foreign Tax Identification Number instead of a PAN. Accepted TDS/TCS credit now reaches the cash ledger when you FILE the "TDS and TCS credit received" form, and GST Practitioner enrolment numbers use the real TRP format.

13 October 2026
GST Portal Walkthrough rewritten — 30 longer modules, 6 languagesImproved

The 80 short modules are now 30 complete ones (registration, invoices, e-way bill, e-invoice, GSTR-1 + GSTR-1A, GSTR-3B, ledgers, IMS and GSTR-2B, payments, annual return, every special scheme) — your finished modules carry over. The last module, Multi-State Registration, now also shows that two GSTINs from one application are separate persons: a sale between them is invoiced and taxed, and the credit reaches the other GSTIN only through its GSTR-2B and GSTR-3B. Every module was run as a student on the simulator and rewritten to match the real screens: short, exact steps with the buttons you actually click, one consistent story (ABC Traders in Month A and Month B, then Kerala Textiles, Kerala Groceries, Kerala Stationers, the TDS, e-commerce, OIDAR, NRTP and ISD registrations) and correct law (B2C Large ₹1 lakh, composition 1%, TCS 0.5%, TDS above ₹2.5 lakh, GSTR-5 due on the 13th). The steps are in English, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu.

13 October 2026Open the course →
Practice date on the portal dashboardNew

Returns have due dates, so the portal dashboard now has a Practice date box. It moves the portal clock for that GSTIN only — file last month's returns on time, see late fees, or file an annual return after the year ends — and can be cleared at any time.

13 October 2026Open the portal →
GSTR-1A only before GSTR-3BImproved

As on the portal (Rule 59(4)), GSTR-1A can be filed after GSTR-1 and before GSTR-3B of the same month; once GSTR-3B is filed the page says GSTR-1A is closed. The GSTR-1A modules of the course now come before GSTR-3B.

13 October 2026
Fixes found while testing the courseFixed

GSTR-5: IGST paid on imports is now input tax credit, not extra tax. GSTR-6: distributions save again, all ITC must be distributed before filing, and the tiles show the real ITC available. Tax Deductor registration keeps the TAN from Part A; TDS, TCS, NRTP and OIDAR applications save their bank account; NRTP asks for the country. CMP-08 fills the tax at the scheme rate, manufacturers pay 1%. Exports without payment carry no IGST and warn when no LUT is filed. GSTR-1, GSTR-7, GSTR-8 and GSTR-5 fill the name from a typed GSTIN; the same invoice number cannot be reported twice. REG-06, challan, receipt, CMP-08, GSTR-4 and certificate PDFs are much smaller.

13 October 2026
GSTR-1: B2C (Large) limit is now ₹1 lakhFixed

Inter-State sales to unregistered buyers go in Table 5 - B2C (Large) when one invoice is above ₹1 lakh (the limit was ₹2.5 lakh before August 2024). The GSTR-1 tiles, their checks and notes now use ₹1 lakh, matching the law and the GST Story.

13 October 2026
❓ Explain this screen — in your languageNew

Every simulator screen now has an "Explain this screen" button in the red DEMO SITE strip at the top. It opens a panel in English, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada or Telugu that tells you what the screen is for, what to do step by step, what each important field means and what to do when an error appears — for registration, invoices, e-invoice, e-way bill, every return (GSTR-1 to GSTR-11, CMP-08, IFF, ITC-04), notices and replies, demands, appeals, payments, refunds and the profile pages. Inside GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B it explains the tile you have open. The screen itself stays in English, exactly like the real GST portal.

New page: the GST Simulator Android appNew

An "App" menu now opens a page with everything the app does — the 80-module course, the GST Story, GST registration, My GSTINs, the free GST tools, messages and the app lock — plus what stays on the website and answers to common questions. The home page now shows the real app on a phone.

13 October 2026See the app →
Safer demand payments, appeals and notice repliesFixed

A double click can no longer pay a demand or an instalment twice, or file the same reply twice. No instalment is due while a demand is under appeal, and an appeal keeps the instalments already paid (the 10% pre-deposit is on the unpaid tax). One DRC-03 settles only one DRC-01A. CMP-02 now also refuses a GSTIN with inter-State sales to consumers, and credit left after GSTR-10 lapses as the law says.

13 October 2026
GST Story Chapters 11–13 in all six languagesImproved

Thomas's factory, the officer's notices and the "Second Chances" chapter can now be read in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu. The home page and the GST Story page now show every company you run in the story, and explain how the course works: self-paced, nobody to call, no typing — one tap fills the right screen.

13 October 2026See the course →
GSTR-3B hard-lock, like the portalImproved

Tables 3.1(a), (b), (c), (e), 3.1.1 and 3.2 of GSTR-3B now come only from your GSTR-1 / IFF / GSTR-1A and cannot be edited — correct a wrong sale in GSTR-1A before filing GSTR-3B. Tax on exports and SEZ supplies with payment (3.1(b)) now counts in the liability, and Table 3.2 lists supplies to unregistered persons, composition dealers and UIN holders by State automatically.

GST Story: Chapter 13 "Second Chances" and Scene 51ANew

Five new scenes: a show cause notice you dispute (DRC-01 → DRC-06 → DRC-07 → appeal APL-01 with the 10% pre-deposit), a challan the bank debited but the ledger never got (PMT-07), Nair Stores leaving composition (CMP-04 + ITC-01), and Anjali's new GSTINs facing cancellation (REG-17 → REG-18 → REG-20, and REG-19 → REG-21 → REG-22). Scene 17 now also writes to the supplier through Communication Between Taxpayers.

12 October 2026Open Chapter 13 →
More portal services now work end to endNew

ITC-01 and ITC-03 (credit on stock when leaving / joining composition — opting in and withdrawing now really change the scheme), Payment towards Demand, payment in instalments (DRC-20), appeals against a real demand with the pre-deposit debited, PMT-07 grievances, unbarring of time-barred returns, Communication Between Taxpayers (inbox, outbox, replies), Track Application Status by ARN, UIN for embassies (REG-13) with GSTR-11, and My Applications listing all of them.

GST Story: Chapters 11 and 12 — Thomas's factory, notices and closing a GSTINNew

Seven new scenes with a new company, Kurian Kitchenware: blocked credit (4B(1)) and goods in transit (4B(2)) re-claimed through 4D(1), job work and the annual ITC-04, an ASMT-10 scrutiny notice answered in ASMT-11, a DRC-01A for an unpaid supplier (Rule 37) settled by DRC-03, and closing the business with REG-16, the REG-19 order and the final return GSTR-10.

11 October 2026Open Chapter 11 →
New portal screens: ITC-04, notices and replies, cancellation, GSTR-10New

GST ITC-04 can now be prepared and filed (Returns → ITC Forms). Notices issued to your GSTIN appear in View Notices and Orders — reply to an ASMT-10 in ASMT-11, and to a DRC-01A in Part B after paying by DRC-03. Application for Cancellation of Registration now works end to end, with the closing stock, the REG-19 order and the final return GSTR-10 (Returns → Final Return).

11 October 2026View notices →
GSTR-3B: blocked credit no longer reaches the credit ledger; IMS accepts are freeFixed

ITC reversed in GSTR-3B Table 4B(1) (blocked credit, Rules 38/42/43) is now taken off the credit carried to the Electronic Credit Ledger, as Table 4C shows. The Credit Reversal and Re-claimed Statement now shows re-claims from Table 4D(1). Accepting an invoice in IMS no longer costs a credit — only a reject does.

11 October 2026
GST Story: new scene on reading every ledgerNew

Scene 20A "Where Did Every Rupee Go?" walks through all the GST ledgers after the first GSTR-3B: cash ledger, credit ledger, liability register, RCM liability/ITC statement, credit reversal and re-claimed statement, and negative liability. The RCM Liability/ITC Statement now also counts ITC claimed on imported services (Table 4A(2)), as the GST portal does.

10 October 2026Open the scene →
Linked filings are protectedImproved

Deleting or changing something another filing depends on is now refused with a clear reason — e.g. a GSTR-3B while a later month is filed, a GSTR-1 the buyer has already used in IMS or GSTR-3B, a GSTR-7/8 whose credit was accepted, a CMP-08 under a filed GSTR-4, or an invoice already in a filed GSTR-1 (issue a credit note instead). In the GST Story, every scene now tells you exactly which earlier step to finish first.

The GST Story home page is now fully translated, and the language buttons show full names (English, हिन्दी, தமிழ், മലയാളം, ಕನ್ನಡ, తెలుగు) with the chosen one clearly marked. Portal and site menus now close when you tap or click outside them, or press Escape.

10 October 2026Open the story →
GST Story: download your REG-06 certificate firstImproved

Scene 2 now starts by downloading the GST REG-06 registration certificate for Malabar Spice Traders, before adding the bank account. Scene 5 links straight to the Kovai certificate. Story students can download certificates without the Standard plan, and Scene 3 explains that Joseph is an additional signatory next to Anjali.

Also a new GST Story scene and a Practice Scenario on branch transfers and why ITC never moves between GSTINs.

Follow one family business through 10 chapters and 45 scenes: registration, invoices, e-way bills, e-invoices, GSTR-1, IMS, RCM, GSTR-3B, credit notes, QRMP, composition, TDS/TCS, ISD, NRTP, OIDAR, GSTR-9/9C and a GST Practitioner. Press ⚡ Generate and the form is filled — you do the OTPs, SUBMIT and FILE. Scene 1 is free.

GSTR-3B now works like the real portalImproved

Table 3.1 is computed from your filed GSTR-1/1A on the server, late fee and interest are calculated for you, and the set-off follows the portal order — so the figures you see are the figures that are filed.

9 October 2026File Returns →
GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C rebuilt from your returnsImproved

Every GSTR-9 table now fills from the year's filed GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and GSTR-2B. GSTR-9 opens only after the year ends and every GSTR-3B is filed. GSTR-9C has a reconciliation panel: audited turnover and ITC vs GSTR-9, with a reason for every difference.

9 October 2026Annual Return →
Engage a GST Practitioner, GSTR-4 EVC and late fees on every returnNew

User Services → Engage / Disengage GSTP with OTP. GSTR-4 now needs the EVC OTP, CMP-08 rejects a NIL statement with values, and GSTR-5/6/7/8 use one late-fee rule.

9 October 2026Engage GSTP →
Submit with DSC, E-Signature or EVC — as on the portalImproved

Every verification screen now shows all three buttons. Companies and LLPs can only use DSC ("DSC is compulsory for Companies & LLP"). Each mode needs its own OTP.
